Usually I open Outlook and the PC sends/receives automatically, I also have auto delete when I close outlook after the prompt "are you sure etc...". All is well. I can also delete the delted items upon closing. Does this sound like an outlook issue or a PC issue?? BTW - My work PC never does this.

It closes the handle automatically upon exit. You should use _beginthreadex, if you write plain C/C++ code (not using MFC). I always have the thread set to auto delete. The stop CEvent is not deleted with the thread. Can someone please suggest a better way for me to do this sort of thing so that I can cleanly
